AIESEC Media & Community Engagement

Media outreach and community partnership work for AIESEC in UNS, building external relations across Solo/Surakarta through press coverage, radio partnerships, and local community engagement.
AIESEC Media & Community Engagement
From February 2019 to February 2020, I worked as part of the Media and Community team at AIESEC in UNS, the local chapter at Universitas Sebelas Maret in Surakarta. AIESEC is a youth-led organization focused on leadership development and cross-cultural exchange, and the UNS chapter ran projects addressing global issues at a local level. My role was external-facing. I didn't manage the official channels directly. Instead, I worked on building the relationships that made the campaigns reach further: media outlets, local communities, youth organizations, and educational institutions across Solo and Surakarta. The work started with mapping. I researched which communities and media partners were worth approaching, then built outreach from there. By the end of my time, more than 30 local communities had participated in AIESEC in UNS projects and campaigns. Media coverage came from outlets including Tribun News Solo, Suara Merdeka, and Kumparan, as well as radio stations Metta FM 104.7, RRI, and Solo Radio 92.9 FM. On the digital side, we worked with local Instagram accounts like The Daily Surakarta, Wonderful Solo, and Event Soloraya, which together reached hundreds of thousands of followers. Some of the campaigns that came out of this period: Walk4SDGs, a collaborative SDGs awareness campaign across five cities; a social project with orphanage children run with the Solo Plastic Bag Community; and a health campaign with Sahabat Kapas.
